The Board also graciously and unanimously voted to accept the invitation from the advocacy group led by Church World Service and the American Baptist Home Mission to attend upcoming Refugee Advocacy Day on September 21, 2018 in Washington DC. Per the request from Chin Baptist Churches USA, an organization consist of 110 Chin churches in America, along with CCI Board’s unanimous decision, Peter Thawnghmung, President of Chin Community of Indiana Board of Directors, cordially accepted the responsibility and will be attending the meeting. Base on the meeting outcome, CCI will assess and determine the best way to continue advocating for the Chin Refugees.
CCI would like to express our sincere gratitude towards advocates Pu Lian Uk and Pu Zo Tum Hmung, who made a special and long trip from Maryland, MD to meet with CCI Board in Indianapolis, IN and to give a briefing from their recent meeting with the Independent Chin Communities (ICC) and key officials in Malaysia.
