For the of month September 2017, CCI has accomplished providing several different services and activities. Hundreds of individuals visited the Chin Center in search of various types of assistance, services, and referrals. The activities in September reflect many areas of the Chin Center’s daily activities.
A total of 512 individuals have visited the Chin Center in September of 2017. These individuals approached the Chin Center in order to receive services in seeking jobs, help with translating different letters, making phone calls, applying for Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) and Naturalization, ESL classes, and for Citizenship preparation classes. On average, twenty five to fifty people have been visiting the Chin Center daily. These numbers reflect only those who actually signed in the ‘Visitor Sign in Sheet’. There are also many who missed signing in, as well.
Each month CCI has seen an increase in the number of family’s who are finding reliable employment opportunities through CCI’s employment programs. It is one of CCI’s main focus areas to help families obtain income through employment so that they are able to achieve financial freedom and freedom from public assistance.
Many people who approached the Chin Center for assistance needed help with translating letters and helping make phone calls. These phone calls and translated documents have brought benefits not only to the families but also to many businesses. Businesses such as banks, service providers, insurance companies, clinics and doctor offices benefit because there is not the language barrier with their customers’ information.
Some Special Activities in September
- September 5, 2017: Moses, the CCI’s employment coordinator, had a meeting with Daechang Seat Co. Ltd (Korean company) discussing job opportunities. Twenty (20) applicants had submitted job applications.
- September 18, 2017: Job Fair for Amazon Company by Abacus Staffing.
- September 26, 2017: Daniel Benefiel and Ketucua Nartubez from Morales visited the Chin Center to discuss potential employment for the Chin community.
- September 27, 2017: Chin Community leaders had a meeting with detectives, Police Officers and Chin leaders at the Chin Center.
- September 30, 2017: 12 people volunteered to help paint the Chin Center for ‘Indy Do Day’.
