Khumi IDPs In Need of Helps in Paletwa, Chin State

While the world and Myanmar government is focusing on the immigrants in Yakhine State, the local native Khumi Chins have been badly affected by the ongoing arm conflicts.

There has been an increasing number of internally displaced people in southern Chin States due to ongoing battle between Burma government troops and arm terrorists who called themselves Arakan Armies. The battles forced to relocate thousands of native Khumi Chin ethnic people in Paletwa township.

Salai Ai Khen who visited the IDPs in Paletwa region reported that those who fled the battle are in need of shelters and food, and that their safety is in critical condition.

Paletwa town is an important water route for the Chin State which is mainly covered with hills and high mountain ranges. The town also has been a border town between the Arakhan State (Yakhine State) and Chin State. Ninety percent of the population in the town and the township belongs to Chin ethnic people. The rest are Burmese and very few Arakanese.
