The Chins are a minority ethnic population from North-Western Burma (Myanmar). The Chin community in Indianapolis has been growing in number since 2000 due to fleeing from the military dictatorship of their mother country, Burma. Having been relocated to a new place and environment, they have been voluntarily helping each other to meet their basic social and human needs. The social condition of the Chin community necessitates the emergence of a community organization to serve its members’ day to day social and human needs. With such a conviction and in order to serve the Chin community, providing means to integrate into the local social structure, the Chins of Indiana established the Chin Community of Indiana on July 20, 2001.
The official legal name of our office is “Chin Community of Indiana (CCI)”. CCI is a non-profit organization with a 501(c)3 status. Our office is located at 2524 E Stop 11 Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46227.
